Lovejoy High School

Lovejoy ISD

Lovejoy ISD, which serves the cities of Allen, Lucas, Fairview, and McKinney, began as a one-room school house in 1917 and has since grown into a vibrant and academically rich K-12 school system. As of 2007, it serves 2,501 students and is the third smallest school district, in terms of student population, in the Metroplex. It is a high growth district, both in terms of student enrollment and land development. Only 2% of the students in the district are economically disadvantaged compared to the statewide average of 52%, and the students have a 96% passing rate on the TAKS test. In both of these categories Lovejoy ranks among the top three with Highland Park and Carrol. In short Lovejoy is, and likely will remain one of the best school districts available to children and their parents living and working in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The residential growth of the area is projected to continue at a steady rate until 2017, during which time 2,366 additional housing units are expected to be built. The average student to household ratio for the district is 0.71, but this number varies from 0 to 2.01 depending on the subdivision. The median work commute time for residents in LISD is 38 minutes (numbers range from 30 min-1 hour).
